Then come see us here in the amazon of Perú!
HOW TO APPLY
Write me a message on our social media (works best) or an e-mail and we can organically chat about your drive to come work and learn with us and get your adventure started. Every kind animal and nature lover is welcome to apply, no special skillset needed.
YOUR TIME HERE
Your stay begins with a four to five days introduction to the project and you will get to know:
- the animal sanctuary
- the conservation forest
- the botanical garden and biological station
- the indigenous community
- the village
- and the farming areas
After that, you are ready and set to start your volonteering.
YOUR WORK
You will be a part of our daily life and tasks. This is a WIDE range of nessesary work.
Most days you will work WITH the animals directly, and some days the work is FOR the animals future, for example reforestation or educational work.
Depending on the weather, project status and more, our work can include:
JUNGLE GUARD WORK
caring for seedlings, collecting, storing, germinating seeds. Planting and monitoring trees.
Working with the machete and other tools to clear and create jungle paths.
Working with GPS data and maps. Tracking topography, water ways, weather, plants and animals. Taking notes and pictures of found species.

WORK WITH RESCUE ANIMALS
Rescue missions of wild animals (can happen at late evenings), caring for the animals directly or cleaning their spaces, repairing or building structures in the rescue center, feeding and playing with the animals and more

FIELD WORK
Planting, harvesting, moving and processing a big variety of tropical products.
Preparing the earth and space, planning gardens and permaculture systems, removing jungle overgrowth, managing controlled burns.
Composting and earth work.
We will work with mostly fruits, leaves and roots and get to know the classics, like Papaya, Banana and pineapple and the endless amount of special rainforest plants, Cacao, Coca, Yuca, Bamboo, medicinal plants and many more.

DESK WORK
Creating and distributing promotion media, translations, finding and applying to fitting fundraisers, creating emails, designs, editing photos and videos, contacting possible colaboration partners, NGO's and businesses.
This volonteer work can go on after returning home as well.
Organizing local workshops, reunions and more.
You can be very creative here and pitch ideas.

SOCIAL WORK
Collecting and arrainging educational material (usually about ecological topics) for workshops in town.
Attending meetings of local associations.
Helping local businesses with a variety of tasks. Some volonteers help out an overworked Restaurant owner, one is a nurse and helped out in the local hospital, some create workshops with kids or share their soccer skills with the community. We have a lot of need for professional social and medical work in health, mental health and specifically womens health and street animal/pet questions.

YOUR STAY
If there is few people you might have your own room and always shared bathrooms and showers.
All volunteers sleep in "the HIVE" in the little jungle village, from which we start together each day to reach all the conservation projects in the forest around it.
A typical Day
we often start from 8:30 or 9 to 12 mid day, have a long break and if needed return to work from 2 pm to 4 or 5pm, (or the afternoon is free) Usually we don't work more than 5 days a week and rainy days or hot mid days can shorten work time further.
Our afternoons and free days are full of excursions and guided activities in and around town, and you can also ask to just stay in the garden, by the river or in bed anytime.
The longer you stay, the more flexible and individual the projects you help at will be and work time will be sometimes way less or at different hours.
You'll see than plans change a lot in Perú and you need to be spontaneous and relaxed with lots of uncertainty about timing and dates.
